Aleena ran through the streets of Baltimore, her heartbeat a resounding thud in her chest. She pushed around the waves of people. The Faceless were behind her, moving towards Aleena in unison. She didn't know why they were chasing her or why she felt so scared. There was only one thing she did know: don't stop.
She couldn’t escape them. They were around every corner, behind every door. The Faceless were on the hunt and they wouldn’t stop until they got their prey.
She couldn’t see.
Amara’s legs were weak with the exhaustion of trying to find an exit; she stumbled blindly along the corridors of the apartment complex. The air was filled with thick smoke that wrapped around her throat with a deadly grip. Heat from the floor licked up her legs and she swore that never again would she use anything that required heat.
After all, this was all her fault.
